This project involved the construction of a new, £4.3m, ‘green' two storey Booths Supermarket.

This award winning store encompasses a range of green features including heat recovery, natural light and ventilation, recycled rainwater, glass doors on refrigerated cabinets, natural refrigerant which replaces environmentally harmful ‘greenhouse gas' refrigerants and Voltage optimisation to minimise the electricity voltage entering the store to provide continuous energy savings.

This is the first supermarket targeted by Booths to achieve an "Excellent" BREEAM rating. This was achieved with innovative design, careful selection of materials, CO² refrigerant and advanced refrigeration cabinets with doors to perverse wastage of energy.  This, together with the contribution by EWC in managing the construction site impacts use of recycled materials, maximising the Considerate Constructor score and managing energy, water and timber useage on site resulted in this store being the first supermarket in the UK to achieve this rating.
