This project involved the completion of the new bridge linking Burnley Bridge Business Park to Junction 9 of the M65 motorway across the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.

The bridge, due to complete by the end of 2013, will make the whole site accessible directly from Junction 9 of the M65.

Eric Wright Civil Engineering are undertaking Phase One of this development, which involves construction of the 13m wide 20m span bridge over the canal, remediation of the site, construction of a large earthworks embankment and provision of new adoptable roads including all associated footpaths, drainage, road markings, signage, street lighting and landscaping.

The site was bound by the Leeds-Liverpool canal to the South and a residential development to the North and East and a Biological Heritage Site to the West. The majority of the existing industrial buildings which occupied the majority of the site were demolished down to ground slab level, brickwork and concrete was crushed and stored on site for re-use as a capping material.
