Eric Wright Civil Engineering Ltd were selected to deliver the 192-space car park for Network Rail on land by the rear of the Queen Hotel and Queen's Road off City Road.
In partnership with Network Rail and Arriva Trains Wales, the existing car parking to the east of the station will be released to provide part of the landscaped entrance to the new Business Quarter.
Eric Wright will design and construct the new car park including hard and soft landscaping, services, drainage and associated works. In addition, 2 existing structures will be demolished within the site confines. Works also include section 278 works and access provisions to adjacent hotel.
Completion of the car park - for rail users and staff - will enable Muse Developments to begin construction work on a six-storey office block providing 70,000 square feet of space by late 2015. It is hoped that the Chester Central Business Quarter will create 3,500 new jobs.
Muse Developments director Phil Mayall said: "City Place is of huge strategic importance to Chester and the region and we are very pleased to see the council commence work on the public realm which takes us a significant step closer to delivering our exciting plans."
