The single skin clad steelframe MRF materials and processing area receives mixed non-organic waste, up to 60% paper and sorts via processing machinery. The paper is fed via internal and a 70m high external conveyor system to an adjacent building for inclusion within the production of new paper for the newspaper industry. The internal slab was designed to meet the stringent requirements of loading shovels that operated 24/7, employing minimal joints and a dry shake topping.

The two storey amenities block provides messing facilities for the 40 no staff and office accommodation at first floor.

The building is partially funded by the Welsh Assembly on the basis that the project achieves a BREEAM Excellent status. Material selection, rainwater harvesting and cycle facilities are being provided to achieve this accreditation.
