The project comprises:
- Replacement of and extension to a council owned leisure centre with two swimming pools (one with a moveable floor), two squash courts, three dance studios, two sports halls, fitness suite and multi-function rooms
- A primary care health centre accommodating five GP practices, out of hours facility, pharmacy and assorted treatment suites. There are also facilities for school and district nurses, health education and health visitors.
- A four-storey entrance atrium providing access to all areas via duplex travelators and feature lifts
- 165 space surface car park
The building is the tallest in Burnley and, being such a landmark, the external design and quality of materials was paramount. In addition, the scheme's height means that all elevations are visible and needed to be treated to the same high quality.
This project was completed to a NEAT 'Excellent' rating.
