Eric Wright Group is helping to start 2016 off on a high note for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

For the fourth successive year, the company is donating £1,500 towards the staging of the charity’s ever popular Valentine’s Appeal Candlelight Concert, which will be held in Blackburn Cathedral on Thursday, February 11th.

To be headlined by award-winning soprano Grace O’Malley, who will be supported by Preston Cecilian Choral Society and the jazz band of Lancaster’s Ripley St Thomas CE Academy, and compered by BBC Radio Lancashire’s John Gilmore, the concert is traditionally one of the highlights of Rosemere’s Valentine’s Appeal, which is the charity’s month of February-long annual big fundraising push.

With last year’s concert raising more than £5,000 for appeal funds, Rosemere’s Corporate Fundraising Manager Paula Richardson said: “We are very grateful to Eric Wright Group for its continued support of our appeal concert. Its help makes a tremendous difference to the money the concert is able to raise for us.

“It means that the venue costs, artists’ expenses and programme costs involved in the concert’s staging can all be taken care of so that money raised through ticket sales can go directly to the Valentine’s Appeal account to be spent on projects and services to help local cancer patients, which is exactly what our supporters want to see happen.”

Jim Carter, Deputy Chairman at Eric Wright Group, said: “Last year’s Valentine’s concert was a magical night and we’re delighted to once again be involved with this and Rosemere’s Valentine’s Appeal as a whole in 2016. It’s wonderful to know that we’re playing a part in helping generate vital funding, which supports local patients during their treatment.”

This year’s Valentine’s Appeal, which has a £50,000 target, has a “Love to” theme whereby the charity is asking people to show their support by doing something they love to help it raise funds.

This could be taking part in a sponsored run, swim or other fitness challenge if sports are enjoyed or, if baking is a hobby, the message is to hold a coffee morning. Alternatively, those who sing in a choir, play music, dance, go to pottery or art classes are being asked to put on a fundraising show or exhibition. Rosemere is able to help with organisational tips plus support materials from T-shirts and sponsor forms to bunting and balloons. To contact the charity, call 01772 522913. This same number can be used to buy candlelight concert tickets, which range in price from £5 to £25 per person.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation fundraises to bring world class cancer treatment and services to patients throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria via their local hospitals and also, through the specialist regional Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital.

It spends the donations it receives on vital equipment, research and training, which the NHS is unable to fund. It also funds patient welfare projects, including providing free access to complementary therapies for those going through treatment, and working to make the surroundings in which treatment is given more patient-friendly.
