Toddlers from Sceptre Nursery have helped donate more than 9 charity baskets to local families as part of an annual harvest festival food drive.
Parents and staff at the nursery, along with employees from the Eric Wright Group, donated non-perishable items such as cans, dried food and cakes, as well as toiletries and accessories, to create hampers for the local community.
At the end of the 4-week campaign, more than 100 items had been collected, an enormous help to families within the area.
Children from Sceptre Nursery spent time decorating the hampers, which were collected by pupils from Wellfield High School in Leyland who will distribute them to local families.
Part of the Eric Wright Group, Sceptre Nursery opened in 1996 to look after the children of its employees, along with those from the local area. It has the capacity for up to 26 babies and toddlers, aged three months to five years, and recently received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted.
Tracy Hood, manager of Sceptre Nursery, said: “Now in its 6th year, the harvest festival food drive is a staple in the autumn term and the children love working together to decorate the baskets.
“There’s a real sense of community between staff and parents, with everyone determined to pledge their support for worthy local causes.”
Bev Yates, Transition and Pastoral Manager Keystage 3 at Wellfield High School commented: “We would like to say a big thank you to Sceptre Nursery for involving us with their harvest collection this year. They have had a fantastic response which will really make a difference to local families.”
