Our Approach
Eric Wright Construction embraces collaborative working. We believe this is an integral part of the design development, cost control and successful project delivery throughout the pre and post contract stages of a scheme.
We can demonstrate improved performance where the client, design team, EWC and our supply chain have developed shared objectives, made decisions collaboratively and solved problems together. Supported by our continual improvement process and lessons learned, we have seen performance improve from project to project.
This approach has led to long-standing partnerships and repeat work with many of our clients including Muse Developments, Himor Developments, Manchester Life Development Company, Blackburn with Darwen Council, Cumbria County Council, Blackpool Council and the DfE. We are Lancashire County Council’s regeneration partner, working with the local authority to maximise the value of its surplus assets and bring forward strategic sites.

We believe key attributes to a successful scheme to be:
- Early Involvement – to discuss design options and opportunities for added value
- Open Book Accounting – sharing of costing information between our clients and EWC to achieve better value for money
- Participation and Discussion – with all members of the client / design team so everyone understands the specific objectives and are working to a common aim
- Collaboration – with supply chain partners who contribute their specialist knowledge and latest trade innovations to early design reviews and construction phase problem solving, improving cost, quality and buildability
- Early identification of Risk and Opportunities – to ensure maximisation of opportunities and minimisation of risk
- Implementation – of EWC Quality and Environmental Management systems
- Communication – early agreement of schedules for formal communication: client meetings, team meetings, design meeting and reports, workshops for specific subjects
- Understanding – of clients brief and requirements for optimum programme sequencing
- Honesty and Trust – reporting progress and raising potential issues at an early stage to allow adequate time for corrective solutions
- Sharing Information – operating a web enabled document management system accessible to all the team
- Stakeholder Involvement – to include engaging with and investing in the local community
- HSE – Careful planning to undertake works safely and minimise risk to the workforce and general public
Client commendation
“It has been a real pleasure working with such a dedicated team. The sense of pride and commitment from everyone in the team has been tremendous. From the outset the support with design management helped us to make informed decisions on those elements of the scheme we wanted to change. The commercial variations were always dealt with promptly and very clear information provided. The site organisation was exceptional. It is rare to find such a tidy site where so many subcontractors work together in such a cooperative way.”
