Eric Wright FM Tees up Derian House Golf Day

Eric Wright Facilities Management, part of the Eric Wright Group, has built even closer ties with Chorley’s children’s hospice, Derian House, after holding a fundraising golf day for the charity at Shaw Hill Golf Resort.

The Bamber Bridge-based company brought together more than 40 partners and suppliers to play a round of golf for a good cause on Thursday 22nd September as part of its ongoing efforts to support the hospice.

Murray Building Services Limited took home the winner’s trophy from the day’s action on the fairway, with Botanical Group Services picking up the ‘Wooden Spoon’ award for the lowest score. All proceeds from team entries, hole and prize sponsorships along with proceeds from a raffle and auction held at the event are being donated to Derian House.

The golf day is the latest in a series of fundraising activities that Eric Wright Group has been involved in with Derian House, one of a number of charities that the Group supports. The company has been raising money for the hospice for more than a decade and, this year alone, has sponsored Derian House’s annual diary publication, its Ladies’ Lunch and a new initiative called Duvet Day. EWG offered three holiday days to participating employees who gave a minimum of £5 to Derian House in a bid to win one of the three holiday days, which they could spend doing anything they liked, such as; a day under the duvet, watching a local team or spending time with the family.

Some of the Eric Wright Construction team even swapped their high visibility jackets for a hard hats and high heels photo shoot to help publicise the Derian House ‘Dames on the Run’ men only race on 9th October in support of patients’ dads, with others now preparing to don their trainers and a dress to run for the charity on the day.

Connal O’Brien, managing director from Eric Wright Facilities Management, said: “Charity support is embedded in our culture and we have operated our own Charitable Trust since 1990. As a result, the team here is always enthusiastic about getting involved and doing their part to support the charities we work with.

“This year, our relationship with Derian House is even closer because we are currently on site at the hospice delivering construction of a two-storey new build wellbeing centre with first floor offices.

“We’re delighted with the number of partners and suppliers that have been involved in the golf day and look forward to the Group turning out to do our bit again for the Dames on the Run event in a couple of weeks time.”

Sophie Saunders, fundraising manager from Derian House, adds: “We currently support 300 families with a child or young adult suffering from a life limiting or life ending condition from across Lancashire and the South Lakes, as well as providing bereavement support for a further 200 families.

“Delivering that vital care relies on sustained fundraising and companies like Eric Wright that contribute with donations and events make a massive difference.”
